How to Download a Public YouTube Short With Saveivo
Copy a public YouTube Shorts link, choose a suitable MP4 quality and find the finished file on your device.
You can use Saveivo to save a public YouTube Short that you created or have permission to download. Open the Short, copy its public share link, paste it into Saveivo and choose the available MP4 quality. Saveivo handles one Short at a time and does not require a Saveivo account.
Check the Short before downloading
The Short must open as a public page. Saveivo cannot bypass private, members-only, paid, deleted, age-restricted, region-restricted or DRM-protected content.
If you are unsure whether the link is public, open it in a private browser window where you are not signed in. A login or membership request means that the video is not publicly accessible to Saveivo.
Only download a Short when at least one of these is true:
- You created and published it
- The creator gave you permission
- The video has a license that allows downloading
- The platform or creator provides an authorized download option
Copy a YouTube Shorts link on a phone
- Open the Short in the YouTube application.
- Tap Share in the Shorts controls.
- Select Copy link.
- Open Saveivo's YouTube downloader in your browser.
- Paste the copied address into the link field.
A Shorts share link normally uses a youtube.com/shorts or youtu.be address. Copy the link to the individual Short, not the channel page, subscription feed or playlist.
Copy the link on a computer
Open the individual Short in your browser and copy the complete address from the address bar. You can also select Share, then Copy. Both the Shorts address and a normal YouTube watch link can identify the public video.
If the copied address contains extra tracking information, you can usually leave it unchanged. If it fails, use YouTube's Share menu to obtain a fresh link.
Choose the right Saveivo quality
After pasting the link, keep Auto-detect selected or choose YouTube. Then choose a quality:
- Best video quality: preserves the best compatible version Saveivo can prepare
- Up to 1080p: useful when the source provides extra detail and file size is not a concern
- Up to 720p: a balanced option for most phones and tablets
- Up to 480p: smaller and faster when using mobile data
- Audio only (MP3): prepares only the available sound when server processing is enabled
YouTube can provide picture and sound as separate streams. Best and 1080p downloads may therefore take longer while Saveivo combines them into one MP4. Selecting a higher number cannot add detail that was not present in the original upload.
Download and find the finished file
Press Download once and allow the preparation to finish. When the result is ready, use the final download control supplied by your browser.
On iPhone or iPad, the file normally appears in the Files app under Downloads. On Android, check your browser's Downloads screen or the Downloads folder in the Files application. On a computer, check the download location configured in your browser.
Read Where Are Downloaded Videos Saved? for device-specific instructions.
If the YouTube Short does not work
Try these checks in order:
- Open the Short while signed out to confirm it is public.
- Return to YouTube and copy a fresh link.
- Make sure the link points to one Short rather than a channel or playlist.
- Try 720p or 480p if a higher-quality stream cannot be prepared.
- Wait a few minutes before one more attempt if YouTube temporarily limits the server.
Repeated clicks will not unlock restricted content. Saveivo also processes one link rather than an entire Shorts playlist.
Never send your YouTube password, cookies or account details to a video downloader. Saveivo only needs the public Short URL.
