Why Is My Video Link Not Working? Seven Checks Before Trying Again

Troubleshoot public YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and X links that Saveivo cannot prepare.

A download can fail even when the link looks correct. Social platforms change frequently, and a post that appears visible inside your logged-in app may not actually be public.

Work through these checks in order before submitting the link again.

Paste the URL into a private or incognito window where you are not signed in. If the video asks you to log in, join a group, confirm your age, or request access, Saveivo will not be able to process it.

This is the fastest way to distinguish a public link from account-only content.

2. Copy a fresh link from the original post

Old shortened links and copied redirect URLs can expire. Return to the original video, open its Share menu and choose Copy link again.

Avoid copying a link from a search-results page, message preview or embedded player. Open the individual post first.

3. Confirm that the post still exists

Creators can delete videos, change their audience, make an account private or restrict a post by location. A link may remain in your messages even after its media is unavailable.

4. Check the selected platform

Saveivo can auto-detect supported links. If you manually selected Instagram but pasted a Facebook URL, switch back to Auto-detect or choose the correct platform.

5. Remove extra text around the URL

Some Share buttons copy a full sentence containing the link. Saveivo usually detects the URL, but the cleanest approach is to paste only the address beginning with https://.

Also check that the link contains no spaces or missing characters.

6. Try a different available quality

The original post may not provide every resolution. If 1080p cannot be prepared, try Best video quality, 720p or 480p. Audio mode also depends on server processing and the source format.

Read 480p vs 720p vs 1080p if you are unsure which option to choose.

7. Wait briefly and try once more

Social platforms regularly adjust how they deliver media. Temporary rate limits or a recent platform change can interrupt an otherwise public link. Wait a few minutes, copy a fresh link and submit it once more.

Repeatedly clicking Download will not make a restricted post public.

What Saveivo cannot process

  • Private or friends-only posts
  • Deleted or expired content
  • Members-only or paid videos
  • DRM-protected media
  • Links that require a login, location or age confirmation
Never provide your social-media password to a downloader. Saveivo does not ask for or need your platform login.

When the video opens publicly and the link is clean, return to Saveivo and try it again.
